Japan looks to expand virus measures in Tokyo, Kyoto, Okinawa

Japan is considering implementing additional COVID-19 containment measures in Tokyo, Kyoto and Okinawa after seeing a surge in their daily coronavirus numbers.

Economy Minister Yasutoshi Nishimura (pictured) revealed that the Japanese government recommends the measures take effect on April 12 and stay in place until May 11.

The decision comes with concerns about a possible fourth wave of infections which already prompted Osaka to declare a state of emergency and ask the national government to invoke pre-emergency measures.
