N. Ireland riots result in injuries to 14 more police officers

Riots in Northern Ireland left another 14 police officers injured, the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) stated on Saturday.

"This was reckless and dangerous criminal behavior," Chief Inspector Darren Fox noted, adding that protesters threw petrol bombs and roof tiles at the police. The total number of police officers who were hurt during the ongoing protests rose to 88.

According to the local media, violence on the streets of Northern Ireland began due to tensions related to the Northern Ireland Protocol from the Brexit deal between the United Kingdom and the European Union. Saturday marks the 23rd anniversary of the signing of the Good Friday Agreement that seemingly brought an end to most of the violent political conflicts in Northern Ireland.
