Asian markets down on pandemic worries

Major stock indexes in the Asia-Pacific region traded lower on Wednesday amid concerns regarding the rise in coronavirus infections. In Japan, the government is close to reimposing a state of emergency in Tokyo and Osaka, local media reported. In politics, China's President Xi Jinping said he will participate in the United States climate change summit on April 22.

In Mainland China, the Shanghai Composite lost 0.13% at 03:24 am CET while the Shenzhen Composite decreased 0.65% at 03:25 am CET. Hong Kong's Hang Seng fell 1.71% at the same time.

Japan's Nikkei 225 tumbled 1.82% at 03:23 am CET. The dollar was flat against the yen to change hands for 108.0530.

South Korea's Kospi Composite surrendered 1.20% at 03:32 am CET, while S&P/ASX 200 in Australia dropped 1.38% at 03:35 am CET.
