ESL no longer exists without English teams - Juventus head

Juventus FC Chairman Andrea Agnelli (pictured) said on Wednesday the plans to create the European Super League (ESL), which was supposed to comprise 12 elite clubs from the continent, cannot go on without English Premier League (EPL) teams.

"I remain convinced of the beauty of that project," Agnelli said. "But admittedly, I don't think that the project is now still up and running."

All of the six English clubs that were originally announced as participants in the ESL decided to withdraw from it after receiving harsh criticism from football players, staff workers, and fans, and even the British government. Meanwhile, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) threatened to ban footballers that play in the league from taking part in international tournaments. In the meantime, Spain's Atletico de Madrid and Italy's Inter Milan also confirmed they are pulling out from the ESL.
