Pfizer detects fake COVID jabs in Mexico, Poland

Pfizer Inc. revealed on Wednesday it has detected fake COVID-19 vaccines, the company jointly developed with BioNTech SE, in Poland and Mexico.

"Everybody on the planet needs it. Many are desperate for it. We have a very limited supply, a supply that will increase as we ramp up and other companies enter the vaccine space. In the interim, there is a perfect opportunity for criminals," Pfizer's world head of security Lev Kubiak told The Wall Street Journal.

The report also said that around 80 people in Mexico received the fake version of the vaccine which was sold for $1,000 per dose, with none of them being harmed by the shot. Meanwhile in Poland, authorities insisted all counterfeit jabs were seized before they were administered.
