Asian stocks seek direction as Nikkei jumps almost 2%

Major stock indexes in the Asia-Pacific region, excluding those in China, followed the United States and European market trends, rising higher during Thursday's morning trade. In politics, media reported that the European Union started negotiations with New Delhi on joint infrastructure projects in India, hoping to outbid China.

The Nikkei 225 index was up 1.86% at 4:11 am CET. The dollar remained unchanged against the yen at ¥108.0080 at the same time.

South Korea's Kospi jumped 0.49% at 4:12 am CET and the Australian S&P/ASX grew 0.28% at 4:11 am CET.

In China, the Shanghai Composite fell 0.12% at 4:10 am CET and the Shenzhen Composite lost 0.27% a minute later. The Hang Seng slipped 0.11% concurrently.
