Japan's CPI down 0.2% in March

The consumer deflation in Japan was 0.2% in March on a yearly basis, with the consumer prices index (CPI) falling standing at 101.8, according to a report by the Statistics Bureau of Japan published on Friday. Month-on-month, the indicator was up 0.2%.

Consumer prices excluding fresh food were also down 0.1% compared to February and up 0.2% versus the same month a year ago. Prices excluding fresh food and energy climbed 0.3% from March 2020, and increased by 0.1% on a monthly basis.

Prices of goods dropped 0.4% YoY, while rising 0.3% versus the prior month, while services grew 0.1% both on a yearly and a monthly basis.
