US to form Net-Zero Producers Forum

United States Department of Energy (DoE) announced on Friday that it will look to establish a Net-Zero Producers Forum with the aim of reaching net-zero emissions on a global scale through "developing long-term strategies."

Canada, Norway, Qatar and Saudi Arabia will join the US in the effort. Notably, the five countries make up 40% of all oil and gas production in the world.

The forum will be focused on "methane abatement, advancing the circular carbon economy approach, development and deployment of clean-energy and carbon capture and storage technologies, diversification from reliance on hydrocarbon revenues, and other measures in line with each country's national circumstances," the US DoE specified in a statement.
