Aeromexico orders 24 Boeing 737 jets

Mexico's flag carrier airline Aerovias de Mexico S.A. de C.V., or Aeromexico, announced on Friday it ordered 24 of The Boeing Company's 737 airplanes and four 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.

The agreement on 737 jets covers B737-8 and B737-9 MAX aircraft, the airline explained. Nine of the 28 ordered planes will start operating during the summer season, while the remainder will begin their service in the "second half of 2021 and during 2022."

The "comprehensive agreement" between the two companies will result in $2 billion savings for Aeromexico, the airline projected.
