Asia mostly higher amid India's coronavirus surge

Asian stock markets traded mostly higher on Monday as India battled with a deadly wave of coronavirus infections and fears the local strain could spread internationally. Meanwhile, the South Korean government vowed to increase the speed of vaccination, reaching 1.5 million people per day by May.

The Nikkei 225 rose by 0.25% at 4:37 am CET, while Hang Seng added 0.23% at the same time. S&P/ASX 200 dropped 0.16% at 4:38 am CET. The Kospi Composite was up by 0.56% at 4:18 am CET.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite increased by 0.47% at 4:38 am CET, and the Shenzhen Composite improved by 1.03% at 4:39 am CET.

The dollar traded 0.13% compared to the yen, selling for 107.7335 at 4:40 am CET.
