Asia mostly up with pandemic in focus

Shares in the Asia-Pacific region traded mostly above the flatline on Monday with all eyes still on the COVID-19 pandemic, and the recent case surges in India still in the spotlight. While Japan pledged to increase the pace of coronavirus vaccination in the country during the weekend, South Korea vowed to do the same earlier today.

The Nikkei 225 gained 0.46% at 7:34 am CET, while Hang Seng added 0.11% at the same time. S&P/ASX 200 concurrently dropped 0.10%. The Kospi Composite was up by 0.71% at 7:35 am CET.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite increased by 0.15% at 7:20 am CET, while the Shenzhen Composite improved by 0.44%. The dollar slid 0.12% compared to the yen, selling for 107.7485 at 7:36 am CET.
