Asia mostly lower ahead of BoJ interest rate decision

Major stock markets in the Asia-Pacific region traded mostly lower on Tuesday ahead of the Bank of Japan's (BoJ) latest decision concerning interest rates. Meanwhile, China stressed its support to Russia after the United States imposed sanctions on it and slammed Australia, which previously criticized Beijing's approach to Taiwan.

The Nikkei 225 fell by 0.20% at 4:24 am CET, as the dollar gained 0.24% to the yen to sell for ¥108.3445. At the same time, South Korea's Kospi decreased by 0.25%, while Australia's S&P/ASX slumped by 0.54%.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite lost 0.42% at 4:10 am CET. A minute later, the Shenzhen Composite went down by 0.58%. Meanwhile, Hong Kong's Hang Seng declined by 0.09% at 4:27 am CET.
