Sanofi EPS down 7% to €1.25 in Q1

Sanofi S.A. reported on Wednesday that its IFRS earnings per share (EPS) for the first quarter of 2021 stood at €1.25, falling 7% from the same period in 2020 but still coming in above analysts' estimates. IFRS net income amounted to €1.6 billion.

Meanwhile, business EPS rose 5% to €1.61 and business net income climbed 5% to €2 billion. The French pharmaceutical giant's IFRS net sales declined 4% year on year to €8.6 billion.

"Vaccines delivered growth in its core segments. We initiated and completed enrollment of our Phase 2 study for our recombinant COVID-19 vaccine candidate in the first quarter and results are expected next month," CEO Paul Hudson noted.
