Macron unveils plan to gradually reopen France

France will start gradually lifting the measures imposed in order to stop the spread of the coronavirus, country's President Emmanuel Macron (pictured) unveiled on Thursday.

According to the government's plan, as of May 3, inter-regional travel will be allowed, while the night-time curfew will remain in place until June 30. The end of June will also mean the reintroduction of large-scale gatherings, with an obligation to implement a so-called "health pass." Cafes and restaurants will start operating on May 15, after a seven-month-long ban, while the number of people allowed per table will be increased to 6 on June 9.

The release of Macron's address with more details regarding the COVID containment measures is expected later today.
