Tokyo's consumer prices down by 0.6% in April

The consumer price index (CPI) in the Ku-area of Tokyo went down by 0.6% in April in comparison to the same month the year before to stand at 101.4, the Statistics Bureau of Japan's preliminary report revealed on Friday. On a monthly level, the figure declined by 0.4%.

The prices for all items, excluding fresh food and energy, remained unchanged year-on-year but decreased by 0.6% month-on-month.

The figure for all times, excluding fresh food only, fell by 0.2% in comparison to April 2021 and by 0.4% on a monthly basis.
