Industrial production in Japan rises by 2.2% in March

The industrial sector in Japan observed in March growth of 2.2% in comparison to the previous month, the country's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry revealed in its preliminary report published on Friday. On an annual level, the figure advanced by 4%.

Shipments increased by 0.8% month-on-month and by 3.9% year-on-year. On the other hand, inventories saw a monthly rise of 0.1% but an annual drop of 10.1%. The inventory ratio declined by 0.8% since February 2021 and by 12.3% in comparison to March 2020.

The report noted the production of motor vehicles, inorganic and organic chemicals, and iron, steel and non-ferrous metals were major contributors to the index's growth.
