US shares lower premarket as traders eye earnings

Shares on Wall Street were lower during early premarket trading on Friday as investors monitored company earnings.

Amazon and Twitter posted better-than-expected results after markets closed at record highs on Thursday, while Exxon Mobil, Chevron, and Colgate-Palmolive were all set to report their respective reports before the opening bell today. On the economic calendar, personal income and spending figures were all scheduled for a release later in the day.

The Dow Jones was down 0.16% at 4:30 am ET, while the S&P 500 fell 0.25%. At the same time, the Nasdaq 100 lost 0.33%. The euro dipped 0.18% against the dollar at 4:35 am ET, buying 1.20985.
