US State Dept approves possible $2.4B deal with India

The United States Department of State approved on Friday a potential defense sale to India worth around $2.4 billion. The deal would include six P-8I Patrol aircraft, related equipment, as well as other elements of logistical and program support such as training and repair.

The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency stated the sale will "not alter the basic military balance in the region." It added the primary contractor, if the agreement is authorized by Congress, would be The Boeing Co.
