Europe opens higher on strong data

Major European stock markets opened with gains with positive sentiment pushed by the better-than-expected March data on retail sales in Germany. Furthermore, the PMI data for both Germany and the European Union will be published shortly after the session kicks off, with the EU investor confidence report coming later in the day.

The DAX traded 0.34% higher at the opening bell, with Adidas climbing 1.36%. The CAC 40 rose 0.25%, as LMVH went up by 0.77%. On the other hand, stock markets in the United Kingdom were closed for the May Day public holiday.

The euro grew 0.17% against the dollar to go for 1.20414 at 9:02 am CET, while the pound stood flat at $1.38262.
