Wall Street opens higher after jobs data

United States major stock markets opened higher on Wednesday after the release of the ADP’s National Employment Report for April, which revealed that the number of jobs in the US private sector increased by 742,000 last month, below analyst expectations. On the business front, General Motors announced strong first fiscal quarter earnings with a revenue of $32.5 billion.

Dow Jones opened 0.19% above the flatline at 9:32 am ET with Dow Inc growing by 0.45%, while S&P 500 gained 0.44% a minute later with Gartner Inc rising by 0.95%. The Nasdaq 100 increased by 0.93% at the same time, as Match Group rose by 7.14% at 9:37 am ET.

The euro lost 0.06% against the dollar to trade for $1.20068 at 9:35 am ET.
