US Space Command is tracking China's rocket - WH

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said during a briefing on Wednesday that the United States is aware and tracking the Long March 5B Chinese rocket that is estimated to come back to Earth between May 8 and May 9.

The rocket was launched on April 29 from the Hainan island and carried a part of a Chinese space station. As the rocket is expected to get back into Earth's atmosphere there is a risk that its space debris will fall onto a populated area. Space agents say it is hard to predict where that location will be until a couple of hours before the event.

"We want to work with the international community to promote leadership and responsible space behaviors. It's a shared interest of all nations to act responsibly in space to ensure the safety, stability, security and long-term sustainability of outer space activity," Psaki added.
