Florida governor signs new restrictive voting law

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed on Thursday a new voting law that will apply several restrictions, including limiting drop boxes, requiring voters to sign up for mail-in ballots every year and limiting who can drop off ballots at drop boxes.

Furthermore, the legislation forbids campaign volunteers to "engage in any activity with the intent to influence or affect of influencing a voter." Speaking for Fox News, Desantis said that "signing this bill here says, Florida, your vote counts. Your vote is going to cast with integrity and transparency, and this is a great place for democracy."

The changes in voting procedures come as a follow-up of Republican claims that widespread voter fraud occurred during the presidential elections in November last year.
