The White House, Uber and Lyft announced on Tuesday that the two ride-hailing companies will offer free rides to people going to a vaccination site to receive a COVID-19 jab.

"Vaccines are our best hope to beat this pandemic and soon everyone in America will be able to take a free Uber to get their shot," Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi stated. Meanwhile, Lyft noted that it will provide those going to get vaccinated with codes that will cover $15 per ride and stressed, that based on previous rides, it expects this to "cover most, if not all, of riders' fares."

Us President Joe Biden is set to officially announce the agreement, as well as other efforts to accelerate vaccination efforts, later in the day during his meeting with bipartisan governors.
