Granholm: Fuel price gouging won't be tolerated

United States Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said on Tuesday that the government will "have no tolerance" for fuel price "gouging" amid the "supply crunch" caused by the Colonial Pipeline ransomware attack.

Granholm urged gas station owners in affected areas to "act responsibly" and urged consumers to report any potential price gouging. She added that the Colonial Pipeline is expected to be "substantially operational" again by the end of the week and that there is no need to hoard gasoline.

Earlier, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued waivers for some fuel requirements, allowing some non-compliant fuels in affected regions in order to boost supply amid the pause in Colonial's operations.
