Deutsche Telekom Q1 revenue €26.4B, up 32.3% YoY

Deutsche Telekom AG announced on Wednesday that its net revenue for the first fiscal quarter of 2021 amounted to €26.4 billion, increasing 32.3%% annually. The company's net profit rose 2.2% year-on-year to land at €936 million in the same time period, while adjusted EBITDA jumped 41.3% compared to the same period last year, to reach €9.2 billion driven by the acquisition of Sprint in the United States.

Adjusted earnings per share stood at €0.25. The telecommunication company's number of mobile customers in Germany went up by 1.8% in the first quarter compared to the previous trimester as it added 22,509 mobile contract customers in three months ending March. The firm reported that its 5G coverage in the EU was at 19%, while the Deutsche Telekom LTE network covers 98.8 % of German households at this point in time.

"We are sustaining momentum and continuing our successful growth story. Our customer numbers and key financial metrics are on track on both sides of the Atlantic," said Deutsche Telekom's CEO Christian Illek.
