UK GDP grows 2.1% in March, beats estimates
The United Kingdom gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 2.1% in March, overshooting the analysts' expectations, according to a monthly estimate released on Wednesday by the country's Office for National Statistics.
According to the report, the services sector grew 1.9%, while the construction sector expanded by 5.8%. Production climbed 1.8%, with manufacturing up by 2.1%.
Meanwhile, February's GDP figure was revised upwards to 0.7% from the previously reported 0.4%. Compared to March 2020, UK's GDP slid 6.1% in the same month this year.
