China's first Mars mission lands on red planet - reports

Tianwen-1, China's first probe launched with the intention of sending robotic spacecraft to Mars, has landed on the red planet, several media outlets reported on Saturday, citing sources from the China National Space Administration (CNSA).

The mission was successfully launched in July 2020 to collect scientific data relating to the geology of Mars, particularly the current and past presence of water and the planet's atmosphere. The probe entered the Martian orbit in February.

The CNSA previously said it will try to land Tianwen-1 on Mars between May 15 and 19.
