Ryanair sees record €815 million loss in fiscal 2021

Ryanair Holdings plc released its full-year earnings results for fiscal 2021 on Monday, reporting a record annual €815 million loss due to coronavirus-related traffic plunge of 81% to 27.5 million. In the same period, Ryanair's revenue tumbled 81% to €1.64 billion. "FY21 was the most challenging in Ryanair's 35-year history," the company noted.

Commenting on the outlook, Ryanair said that the second calendar quarter of 2021 (fiscal Q1) would bring between 5 and 6 million guests, with the full-year guidance standing in the 80-120 million range. "We also (cautiously) believe that the likely outcome for FY22 is currently close to breakeven - assuming that a successful rollout of vaccines this summer allows a timely easing of European Govt. travel restrictions," Ryanair concluded.
