British Airways: UK, US should open travel corridor

British Airways Chief Executive Sean Doyle asserted on Monday that the United Kingdom should open a travel corridor with the United States in light of falling COVID cases in order to "open up a critical economic partner" for the country.

"There's a very compelling case to get markets like the US open and to get them open safely," Doyle told Sky News. "The US is close to vaccinating close to 60% of all adults over 13 and infection rates keep falling. We do see the US trending in a very positive way, we do feel confident it will be open for travel in the summer."

As part of the UK's COVID reopening roadmap, international travel has restarted earlier today. The British Airways CEO said there has been a 500% to 700% rise in interest for holiday packages due to the new measures, although the company is currently functioning at 10% of its total capacity.
