Lamborghini announces plans for full EV by 2030

Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. announced on Tuesday that they intend to manufacture the company's first fully electric vehicle by 2030, as part of their efforts in decarbonizing future models.

According to the manufacturer's statement, the initiative called "Direzione Cor Tauri" is planned to be a three-phase operation that would take the company "towards an electrified future" and the "environmental sustainability route." The Italian carmaker plans to develop new internal combustion engines in the first half of the decade, before transitioning into hybrid models with the aim of cutting carbon emission by 50% starting from 2025, allocating €1.5 billion to the effort, the largest Lamborghini investment to date. The culmination of the initiative would be the company's first fully electric car by 2030.

Lamborghini Chairman Stephan Winkelmann noted: "Lamborghini’s electrification plan is a change of course that was made necessary by a radically changed context, in which we want to give our contribution by continuing to reduce environmental impact with tangible projects."
