US, Mexico discuss reopening border June 22

The United States and Mexico are holding discussions on whether to ease coronavirus-related border restrictions from June 22, the Mexican Foreign Ministry revealed on Tuesday.

According to the ministry's statement, the final decision will highly depend on the number of newly registered COVID-19 cases in the region as well as the pace of the vaccinations.

"Mexico and the United States are in discussions to relax from June 22 the restrictions on border crossings on the basis of indices on the spread of COVID-19 and the number of vaccines applied on both sides of the border," it said.
