Euro area yearly inflation up to 1.6% in April

Eurozone's consumer prices rose to 1.6% annually in April, data from Eurostat showed on Wednesday. In the whole of the European Union, the inflation was 2.0%.

Energy prices again contributed the most to the inflation rate, followed by services, food, alcohol & tobacco, and non-energy industrial goods.

Among the euro area countries, the highest inflation rate was registered in Hungary and Poland, while Greece and Portugal reported a drop in prices.
