S. Korea to speed up vaccination after deal to make Moderna shots

South Korean health authorities announced the country will speed up its vaccination program after Samsung Biologics reached a deal to manufacture Moderna's COVID-19 shots. Currently, only 3.79 million or 7.4% of South Koreans have been fully vaccinated, with the government planning to immunize 13 million people by the end of June.

Samsung Biologics stated it aims to make the vaccine available for commercial distribution in the "early second half of 2021." Moderna's shot was authorized for emergency use in South Korea on Friday.
