IAEA confirms Iran monitoring extension

International Atomic Energy Agency's Director-General Rafael Mariano Grossi (pictured) confirmed on Monday earlier reports that the agency reached an extension to the monitoring agreement with Iran.

Grossi stated that, following discussions with the head of Iran's nuclear program Ali Akbar Salehi, a month-long extension to the previous deal would be implemented, where the nuclear agency would have their surveillance equipment installed in Iran's nuclear facilities to monitor the country's nuclear capabilities and development.

Russia's ambassador to the IAEA Mikhail Ulyanov commented on the extension saying that it would help "maintain the business-like atmosphere at the Vienna talks," and "facilitate a successful outcome of the diplomatic efforts to restore the nuclear deal."
