Europe closes higher as consumer confidence grows
Major stock indexes in Europe ended the trading session higher on Friday as Eurozone consumer confidence continues to improve. The media reported that Brussels and London were making progress in negotiations regarding the implementation North Ireland Protocol. EU regulators approved Pfizer Inc.'s COVID-19 vaccine for use in children aged between 12 and 15 years, while Britain authorized Johnson & Johnson's jab.
The FTSE 100 was just 0.04% above the flatline at the close as Taylor Wimpey plc increased 3.19%. The DAX gained 0.74%. Siemens AG was the best performer, jumping 3.75%. The CAC 40 finished 0.75% in the green with Credit Agricole Group growing 1.78%.
The euro fell 0.06% against the greenback at 5:29 pm CET, changing hands for 1.21892. The pound was down 0.18% to sell for 1.41817 dollars.
