Wall Street closes in green after jobs data

Shares on major United States markets closed in the positive territory on Friday after the latest economic data report showed that the unemployment rate in the country declined 0.3 percentage points. President Joe Biden and members of his administration took credit for the upbeat report, while Cleveland Federal Reserve President Loretta Mester noted that more progress would be needed for the Fed to alter its monetary policy measures.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average index was up 0.52% at the close with Salesforce, its best performer, rising 2.88%. The Nasdaq 100 jumped 1.78% at the end of the trading session as DocuSign skyrocketed by 19.76%. The S&P 500 closed with a 0.88% gain, only eight points shy of its all-time high. Biogen pulled the index up, advancing 4.99%.

The euro was 0.34% higher compared to the dollar to change hands at 1.21687 at 4:04 pm ET.
