Russia withdrawing from ISS depends on US - official

Russia's Roscosmos State Corporation for Space Activities Director Dmitry Rogozin (pictured) stated on Monday that Russia's decision to leave or stay on the International Space Station (ISS) depends on whether the United States will sanction further Roscosmos enterprises.

Rogozin said that due to the current sanctions on the country's supply of microelectronics, the space agency cannot launch a number of satellites and spacecraft, but he also noted they are developing work on the production of microchips and that they have managed to increase their domestic production over the past three years by nearly three times.

Additionally, he believes the US is considering imposing new sanctions to further restrict Russia's ability to launch missiles into space, despite being called a "vital partner" on space exploration last month by US officials, and that they may be introduced later this year.
