Europe opens mostly higher after UK data

European markets opened mostly higher on Friday following the release of the United Kingdom's April economic data that showed that the country's economy grew 2.3%, while the industrial production and the trade deficit contracted. In addition, England will host the Group of Seven (G7) Summit, set to begin later in the day.

The DAX was flat at 9:02 am CET. London's FTSE 100 was 0.21% higher at 9:00 am CET as precious metals mining company Fresnillo PLC advanced 2.47% a minute later. The CAC 40 gained 0.06% 9:00 am CET. IT firm Capgemini was the best performer, rising 0.69% at 9:04 am CET.

The euro was 0.09% up against the dollar at 8:59 am CET, trading at 1.21827. The British pound was flat compared to the American currency, going for 1.41714 concurrently.
