US shares move higher after jump in inflation

United States markets traded higher in the premarket on Friday after yesterday's inflation report which showed the CPI increased 5% in May on an annual basis, a high unseen since 2008. Initial jobless claims dropped 9,000 to reach 376,000. Meanwhile, the G7 summit continues in the United Kingdom, as the members discuss economic cooperation, the coronavirus pandemic and issues such as the global corporate tax.

The Dow Jones gained 0.21% at 8:22 am ET. The Nasdaq 100 was up by 0.14% at 8:23 am ET, while the S&P 500 added 0.13% at the same time.

The euro traded 0.37% lower compared to the dollar and sold for 1.21260 at 8:23 am ET.
