Wall Street opens mixed as G7 summit continues

Stock indexes in the United States opened mixed on Friday with the Group of Seven summit in the United Kingdom in focus. On Thursday, the US and the UK reaffirmed their "indestructible" relationship during a meeting between US President Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Investors were still processing the inflation report, which saw the CPI soar to 5% year-on-year in May, as well as the jobs report showing initial jobless claims dropped 9,000 from the previous week.

The Dow Jones was up by 0.23% at market open. Dow Inc. gained 1.04%. The S&P 500 added 0.11%, as Freeport-McMoRan Inc. jumped 3.53%. The Nasdaq 100 decreased by 0.12% at 9:31 am ET, with Vertex Pharmaceuticals plummeting 9.63%.

The euro traded 0.36% lower against the dollar and went for 1.21274 at 9:32 am ET.
