US opens flat to lower amid latest data releases

Major stock markets in the United States opened in the flat-to-lower territory on Tuesday amid several data reports that are being released today. The country's producer prices and industrial production both went up by 0.8%, while its retail sales decreased by 1.3% in May. Traders will also keep an eye on the freshest updates on business inventories, as well as on weekly crude oil stocks.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 both stood flat at the opening. On the other hand, the Nasdaq 100 declined by 0.11% as Fastenal Company lost 2.70%.

The euro stood flat against the dollar, selling for $1.21228 at 9:28 am ET.
