Germany vaccinates 50% of adult population - Spahn

Half of the German adult population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, the country's Health Minister Jens Spahn (pictured) announced on Friday.

Speaking at a press conference, the minister went on to warn of the spread of the COVID-19 Delta variant, initially uncovered in India. Spahn noted that the Delta strain will become the dominant virus variant in Germany, explaining that the question on the matter should not be "if but when."

Germany has so far approved four COVID vaccines, while Spahn previously hinted that Berlin intends to boost its jab supply in the future in order to fight the spread of variants that could emerge.
