South Korea sees 'critical moment' in relations with North

South Korean Unification Minister Lee In-young (pictured right) stated on Tuesday that "now is a very critical watershed moment at which we can move into a mode of dialogue" with North Korea. During a meeting with the United States special representative, Ambassador Sung Kim (left), Lee added "it is the time for South Korea and the US to move in an active and agile manner through consensus."

The US representative responded that Washington and Seoul "are very closely aligned on all important aspects of our North Korea policy." Kim agreed that "meaningful inter-Korean dialogue, cooperation and engagement" with Pyongyang is needed, accoding to Yonhap, especially in the matter of the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
