US initial jobless claims down by 7,000 to 411,000

The number of initial jobless claims in the United States for the week ending June 18 declined by 7,000 from the previous week's revised level to 411,000, with the total tally being significantly higher than what analysts predicted, the country's Labor Department revealed on Thursday.

The 4-week moving average for the same period rose by 1,500 in comparison to the past week's revised average to 397,750.

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate for the week ending June 12 came in at 2.4%, decreasing by just 0.1% compared to the week before. Meanwhile, the advance number for the seasonally adjusted insured unemployment for the same period went down by 144,000 to 3,390,000.
