Pelosi moves forward with Capitol riot committee
United States House Speaker Nancy Pelosi introduced a resolution on the formation of a committee to investigate the Capitol insurrection on January 6. The panel will consist of 13 members picked by Pelosi, five of whom will be chosen in consultation with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. Pelosi will also designate the chair of the committee.
The Speaker criticized the failure of a bill aimed at forming a bipartisan commission, which was voted down in the Senate. "Senate Republicans did Mitch McConnell a 'personal favor' rather than their patriotic duty and voted against the bipartisan commission negotiated by Democrats and Republicans. But Democrats are determined to find the truth," she stated.
