House approves Capitol insurrection committee

The United States House of Representatives voted on Wednesday to approve the creation of a select committee to investigate the January 6 Capitol insurrection.

The final tally of the vote was 222 to 190 votes in favour of forming the committee, with only two GOP members, Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, voting for the motion.

Earlier, the White House asserted that it had faith in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi when it comes to assigning people to the committee.
