AWS, Slack, Dropbox plan 'alliance' against Microsoft - report

Amazon.com Inc., Slack Technologies, Inc., Dropbox, Inc. and other companies have been exploring the possibility of forming a "Rebel Alliance" with the aim of competing against Microsoft Corporation, Business Insider reported on Thursday, citing anonymous sources familiar with the discussions.

The companies involved would make a business software bundle for a single price that would assist firms like Slack, Dropbox and Smartsheet expand their corporate client base while helping Amazon Web Services (AWS) make headway into the business apps domain and challenge Microsoft in that sector, according to the report.

The year-long negotiations have yet to result in a formal agreement, as the current AWS CEO and incoming Amazon CEO Andy Jassy has reportedly been dissatisfied with the proposals made so far.
