Israel in negotiations to give excess Pfizer jabs

The Israeli Health Ministry revealed on Sunday it is negotiating to deliver the excess amount of Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines to another country before they expire.

The ministry's Director-General Hezi Levi hasn't disclosed the size of the batch that is the subject of the talks, however, local paper Haaretz estimated it at around 1 million doses. "We are negotiating with other countries... We are dealing with this day and night," Levi told Radio 103 FM.

He also noted that the delivery deal of vaccines expiring on July 31 would have to obtain Pfizer's approval. Fortunately, the American company said it "is happy to discuss potential donations requests of the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine between governments on a case-by-case basis, particularly if this helps ensure the vaccine is used to protect people from this disease."
