Pentagon cancels $10B JEDI deal with Microsoft

The United States Defense Department announced on Tuesday it has canceled the $10 billion JEDI cloud contract with Microsoft Corp. following a lawsuit filed by Amazon Inc., and that it is looking to make the two tech giants work together on the job.

"Due to evolving requirements, increased cloud conversancy, and industry advances, the JEDI Cloud contract no longer meets its needs," the Pentagon's statement noted.

A report from May originally introduced the possibility, with government contracting experts saying the deal with Microsoft was "inappropriate and outmoded" due to its "single-vendor approach."
