US shares extend losses premarket, Dow drops 300 pts

Major stock market benchmarks in the United States extended losses in the premarket on Monday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 330 points.

The sentiment among the investors was seemingly affected by fears of the fourth wave of coronavirus infections, and the impact that the, allegedly more easily transmissible, Delta strain could have on the markets and the economy.

The Dow Jones tumbled 0.96% or 333 points at 5:39 am ET, while the Nasdaq 100 lost 0.39% a minute later. At the same time, the S&P 500 was down by 0.71%. The euro traded 0.24% lower compared to the dollar, selling for 1.17774 at 5:41 am ET.
